Hi, I’m Yun Jia and I have had the pleasure of being the University of Birmingham’s Head Gymnastics Coach since 2009.

I’ve been involved in gymnastics and sports my whole life; a competitive gymnast until age 16, I then gradually made the transition to coaching and went on to University where I gained my MSc in Applied Sport & Exercise Science.

I am also the Head of Recreation and Women’s Artistic Gymnastics at Earls Gymnastics Club, where I structure and deliver the recreational, pre-school and women’s artistic programme, along with mentoring and training new coaches.

Coaching at the University is truly rewarding as I get to see many of my gymnasts, not only progress in the sport, but also make their way through university, graduate and start the next chapter of their lives. Every year all of our gymnasts make me proud with their achievements both in training and at competitions, and I was honoured to be awarded the University’s Coach of the Year in 2013.

At UoB we welcome all abilities to our sessions; whether you’ve competed internationally or never done a cartwheel, we cater for all.
Sessions and groups are based on ability and your coach will ensure that you are taught the correct techniques for each skill before moving onto the next.

Whether you wish to compete and represent the University, or just want to socialise and have fun, UoB Gymnastics would love to welcome you to the Club.
